Bashley Indoor U12 squad v Hamworthy. Dorset Indoor League

Bashley U12s kept up their winning run with victory over Hamworthy in their latest indoor fixture without quite hitting the heights of recent performances. Batting first for the fifth consecutive match Sam Presland (37 no) and Jack Harris (16) got the boys off to a solid start until Presland retired and Harris fell to a good delivery. The county duo of Daniel Bailey and Joshua Royan looked to pick up the pace but Royan (12) was unfortunate to be run out before Bailey drove his way to a retirement. Unselfish late order contributions from Scott Menary (5) and Toby Mills (9) before a late flurry at the death from retirees Presland and Bailey enabled Bashley to reach a respectable 163-4.

After the changeover Joshua Royan struck immediately but in the early going Bashley were just a touch off with the ball and Hamworthy road their luck with multiple edges not going to hand and sharp chances put down.  But just as its seemed a tight conclusion might be on the cards Bashley found their form and tight bowling from Bailey was backed up with renewed standards in the field with a slew of wickets including 2 quick thinking runouts, a stumping from Harris and a fine catch from Royan reducing to Hamworthy to 116 all out.

So with one game remaining Bashley look set to go into Finals day seeded no.1 with an unassailable points total. So well done to the boys and we will look to finish the regular season undefeated with our final group match against Bournemouth Eagles on March 13th.

U12 Indoor Squad: New Year starts with an emphatic win !

Dorset Indoor League : U12

Bashley 155 for 2; Ellingham 41 all out.

Well what a performance that was from the boys last night which saw them sweep a talented Ellingham team aside and move to the top of Indoor Division 1!  Captain Josh Royan won the toss and decided to bat and he and Joshua Bailey got Bashley immediately on the front foot with some powerful hitting before Royan (17) nicked a good one to the the keeper. Bailey (33 no) and Toby Mills (25 no) consolidated that good start both retiring deservedly unbeaten. Sam Presland helped maintain the momentum with some good scampering between the wickets before Mills was joined by Jack Harris (27 no) and they played very sensibly together to ensure that Bashley used their full allocation of 12 overs to reach a good total of 155-2 against a useful Ellingham attack.

Keeping up the high standard of recent matches Bashley were again electrifying in the field. Sam Presland took a nice catch to dismiss the Ellingham no.1 for a duck, when he was deceived by a nicely flighted delivery from Joshua Bailey. Josh Royan immediately put the pressure on by only conceding one scoring shot from the bat in his opening 2 overs and picking up a nice caught and bowled as his reward. Sharp work from Jack Harris behind the stumps accounted for Ellinghams no.3 off the bowling of Bailey and Bashley were truly on top. Scott Menary's accurate opening over then saw him tempt the batsman into a powerful lofted drive that was plucked out of the air brilliantly by Royan who in the same over ran out another batsman with an accurate throw, just for good measure! It then just remained for Presland to perform the last rights on the Ellingham innings with the 1st ball of the 6th over castling the stumps  and bringing the Ellingham innings to a close at 41 all out.

So a comprehensive win and a great evenings entertainment for all the Mum's and Dads watching and I was delighted that again all 6 boys contributed to an excellent team performance. Bashley can move forward with confidence towards their next fixture in 2 weeks time against Hamworthy.
