Perfect Performance from the Lewis Brothers !

Bashley U17 were in action again last night for their second fixture against OTs & Romsey this season, this time one of our few league fixtures.

OTs & Romsey set off with strong batting performances (H. Tulk retiring on 51) before Bashley's luck changed and wickets started to fall. OT's & Romsey finished the innings setting a huge target  of 150 for Bashley to chase .

Bashley's reply came in the form of the Lewis brothers, with Marcus retiring with a 6 on 55, and Patrick retiring on 50. With the scores getting close, unfortunately Bashley lost a couple of quick wickets and ran out of overs, finishing at 132 for 4

A great match, played in great spirit by both teams

The U17 squad have not had the easiest of seasons - despite the team being ready to go most weeks, throughout the district this age group has been decimated by exams affecting player's availability. Matches have been cancelled at the 11th hour, or dropped out of the fixture list through clubs having to withdraw completely.
Despite the lack of U17 cricket we are delighted that most of the squad are regulars in the seniors teams every weekend, so we look forward to some more great performances throughout the summer !

New Zealand's Luke Ronchi Drops in at Bashley

New Zealand International Cricketer, Luke Ronchi came back to  Bashley Rydal CC on Saturday to visit his old club and team mates.  Luke spent 3 seasons with Bashley Rydal CC as their overseas player arriving as a teenager in 1999, and has continued to maintain links with the club and its members
Arriving at lunchtime, Luke spent the afternoon catching up with club members and former team-mates, and watching the Bashley Rydal 2nd XI in action. He also chatted with some of Bashley’s young cricketers who were practicing in the nets, answering their questions about wicket keeping and life as an International cricketer. He told them that his favourite shot is the pull shot – but he also likes a good cover drive !

He spent the afternoon and evening at the club, before returning to Southampton ready for his international duty on Sunday in the England V New Zealand ODI at the Ageas Bowl.

Bashley Welcomes Littlewick Green CC touring team

It had been planned since the Springtime, but as the heavens opened early on Friday afternoon, our hearts sank. However, the weather gods were kind on this occasion ( along with a little forward thinking the previous evening from the grounds staff who had covered the wicket !). A drying breeze, and by late afternoon, we had sunshine too... and were all set to welcome a touring team to Bashley.

Littlewick Green CC U11 were on tour, camping in the New Forest and visiting Bashley on Friday evening and Sway CC on Saturday morning.

Bashley U11ready for action !

A Twenty20 match, played using pairs format cricket and 2 teams of 10. A beautiful sunny evening, a friendly bunch of young cricketers and a very exciting match, with Bashley clinching a win by just 5 runs in the final over.

A superb team effort, great fun and both teams a real credit to their respective clubs.
We hope that Littlewick Green will come and see us again
