Let's Talk about Libby...

I promised you details of a fund-raising challenge, and I'm delighted to introduce you to Libby Pardoe.....

Libby's younger brother George has played for Bashley ( Rydal) Junior Cricket Club since he a tiny U9. He is now a strapping U15, representing Hampshire within their U15 and U16 squads, training with their emerging player programme, and of course, is now playing for Bashley, this year mainly in the 3rd Team.

Dad Neil also coached and managed Bashley's junior teams for many years, and the whole family was involved in the preparation for the Family Fun Day on August Bank Holiday Monday

In the week following the second consecutive Fun day wash-out, Libby came to the Club Committee with a proposal... a fund-raising swim on behalf of the Club - a distance equivalent to the length of the River Thames, 214 miles in total over the winter season.

Libby is an experienced and enthusiastic, endurance swimmer : in 2012 she swam a mile for every day that the Princess of Wales Regiment served in Afghanistan to raise money for injured servicemen; in 2013 she completed a Cross Channel charity swim with a group of students from Brockenhurst College.

Now a part-time student in London and a  Life Guard at New Milton, she will spend her weekends and evenings swimming her way, mile by mile, through the distance equivalent to the length of the River Thames. All on behalf this time of Bashley ( Rydal) Cricket Club.
And she is already  almost 10 miles into the challenge

In the next few weeks, we hope to be able to bring you news of an opportunity for the Junior Cricketers to join Libby in the pool, and participate in their own right in this fantastic challenge.....

In the meantime, we are sharing the link to the Club's Just Giving Page, which has been set up for this event, and where Libby explains why she is taking this on.
We hope that you will support Libby in this challenge, and encourage others to do the same.....
