Dan's tip to our juniors is:
Always watch the ball into your gloves. As soon as you take your eyes off the ball there is a good chance that your hands will be in the wrong place. When standing up to the wicket try and keep your hands on the ground for as long as possible (preferably until the ball has pitched). As wicketkeepers we need to avoid coming up too early as it is much easier for your gloves to be low and rise with the ball, rather than coming up early and having to drop them back down.
Remember, you will make mistakes, we all do – but when you do just remember this quote from former England Wicketkeeper Alan Knott ‘Don’t let missed chances affect your performance...the next ball is the only one that matters’
Dan originates from South Africa. He has played cricket at Bashley since 2006
He is able to keep wicket, bowl and bat !
Dan and Kerrie returned to South Africa earlier this year to get married , but live locally
