Ever since the rain which lead to the cancellation of the Family Fun Day on August Bank Holiday Monday, there has been a plan afoot... namely to utilise the hard work and many donations that went into the preparation of the Fun Day, and bring in some funds - albeit not on the scale that the Fun Day would have produced, but funds nonetheless.
Phase 1 was to ensure that vouchers and raffle prizes with "sell-by" dates were put to good use. I'm pleased to report that the raffle at the recent Senior Club presentation evening was successful, and several member will now be enjoying trips out, and hampers full of goodies!
Phase 2 was to ensure that the Junior Tombola was put to good use. So a merry band of workers set up stall in the New Milton Christmas festival market, with photos promoting the Junior club and its achievements, the junior tombola, the senior tombola, various craft items, and the coconuts ( un-used from the coconut shy!)
It was a LONG day, but I'm pleased to report that we took £ 159.00 on the Junior Tombola alone.... so thank you to all the Juniors who filled the plastic cups with goodies last summer and brought them in for Fun Day. The senior tombola and the craft also did well, and the coconuts sold like hot cakes !
A big thank you to the Junior members who came and helped with the Junior Tombola at the market : The Andersons, Sarah and Rosie, Oli & Hannah Crutch, Seb Wright, Adam Newland and Sam Presland. Well done to Tom & Jack Harris, who really had no choice but to spend the whole today helping ! A superb team effort to ensure that your tombola donations did not go to waste
Phase 3 of the Fun Day "rescue mission" will follow in the Spring time. Watch this space......
