Well done Bashley Girls squad...
Bashley 374 for 0, Christchurch 324 for 2
Bashley gained revenge for a crucial outdoors defeat to
Christchurch this summer to stay unbeaten in the Indoor League.
Christchurch clinched the New Forest League title this summer
after beating Bashley, who faced an uphill task indoors at Hurn. Bashley’s
girls had not played for nearly three months and were a player short, but the
New Forest girls ran up a daunting total of 374. Rosie White top scored with 27
and was ably supported by the rest of Bashley batters, especially Katie
Harding, who made 23.
Christchurch were always going to find that total hard to
chase down. Their batters included a number of younger girls, who all succeeded
on getting the bat on the ball, but Bashley kept the runs in check. Freya Wood
was typically efficient behind the stumps as all four of Bashley’s other
players were forced to bowl the maximum three overs apiece.
Rosie White, Lucie Menary and Katie Harding all bowled well,
but Elizabeth De Wet was the pick of the bowlers for Bashley and took two
wickets as the New Forest side won by 50 runs to join Christchurch at the top
of the league after three matches.
