Dorset Indoor Girls U13 Cricket League

Well done Bashley Girls squad...
Bashley 374 for 0, Christchurch 324 for 2

Bashley gained revenge for a crucial outdoors defeat to Christchurch this summer to stay unbeaten in the Indoor League.

Christchurch clinched the New Forest League title this summer after beating Bashley, who faced an uphill task indoors at Hurn. Bashley’s girls had not played for nearly three months and were a player short, but the New Forest girls ran up a daunting total of 374. Rosie White top scored with 27 and was ably supported by the rest of Bashley batters, especially Katie Harding, who made 23.

Christchurch were always going to find that total hard to chase down. Their batters included a number of younger girls, who all succeeded on getting the bat on the ball, but Bashley kept the runs in check. Freya Wood was typically efficient behind the stumps as all four of Bashley’s other players were forced to bowl the maximum three overs apiece.

Rosie White, Lucie Menary and Katie Harding all bowled well, but Elizabeth De Wet was the pick of the bowlers for Bashley and took two wickets as the New Forest side won by 50 runs to join Christchurch at the top of the league after three matches.

New Milton Christmas Festival

Ever since the rain which lead to the cancellation of the Family Fun Day on August Bank Holiday Monday, there has been a plan afoot... namely to utilise the hard work and many donations that went into the preparation of the Fun Day, and bring in some funds - albeit not on the scale that the Fun Day would have produced, but funds nonetheless.

Phase 1 was to ensure that vouchers and raffle prizes with "sell-by" dates were put to good use. I'm pleased to report that the raffle at the recent Senior Club presentation evening was successful, and several member will now be enjoying trips out, and hampers full of goodies!

Phase 2 was to ensure that the Junior Tombola was put to good use. So a merry band of workers set up stall in the New Milton Christmas festival market, with photos promoting the Junior club and its achievements, the junior tombola, the senior tombola, various craft items, and the coconuts ( un-used from the coconut shy!)

It was a LONG day, but I'm pleased to report that we took £ 159.00 on the Junior Tombola alone.... so thank you to all the Juniors who filled the plastic cups with goodies last summer and brought them in for Fun Day. The senior tombola and the craft also did well, and the coconuts sold like hot cakes !

A big thank you to the Junior members who came and helped with the Junior Tombola at the market : The Andersons, Sarah and Rosie, Oli & Hannah Crutch, Seb Wright, Adam Newland and Sam Presland. Well done to Tom & Jack Harris, who really had no choice but to spend the whole today helping ! A superb team effort to ensure that your tombola donations did not go to waste

Phase 3 of the Fun Day "rescue mission" will follow in the Spring time. Watch this space......

Indoor League Season

It may be the 'quiet season' for cricket generally, but Bashley have 2 teams competing in the Dorset Indoor League matches at Hurn Cricket Centre, and quietly doing rather well so far ! The Bashley Girls squad, AKA the Bashley Bandits, and an U12 squad comprising of players from Bashley, Sway and Lymington have both played 2, won 2 so far...

Well done guys and girls, keep up the good work. And thanks to Graham and Steve for organising these squads.

Fun Day Cancelled

Thank you to everyone who has helped with the planning, organising, baked cakes, made items to sell, donated prizes, volunteered to help etc etc  but I'm afraid "Mother Nature" has defeated our best efforts to get the Fund Day & Car Boot on.

THEY ARE BOTH CANCELLED.

Girl Power this weekend.....

Some excellent results for the Junior section this weekend:

The girls squad played 2 matches, won 2.
U13A had a very convincing win over Fawley on Thursday evening.
Bashley U11 were out in force today with a win at Pylewell Park, and the pairs in action at Beaulieu.
Bashley U15 also had a convincing win against Beaulieu at home.

Well done everyone today:  excellent batting and bowling performances all round.

And a particular well done to the girls playing in the Junior league squads: superb catches from Chloe-Ann Anderson, U13 & U15,;wickets for Rosie White & Lucie Menary at Pylewell Park , Katie Harding : 3 wickets against Beaulieu U11 and Tash Davey 3 wickets for Bashley U15

For full details, please see the Match Report page.....

U9's Pylewell Park 294 Bashley Rydal 196

Bashley U9's travelled to the picturesque ground of Pylewell Park and came up against a very good home side.
Bashley were asked to bat first and all four pairs worked hard against some very straight bowling, which made run scoring very difficult, in fact there were only 20 extras in the visitors total of 196. Leo Rogers (1) William Lewis (4) Joshua Shafer (1) Joss Esposti (1) Christian Davies (1) and Joshua Randall (3) being the run scorers.
Bashleys bowling was more disciplined than in earlier games, but Pylewell's running between the wickets and ability to put away any loose balls allowed the home side to gain a comfortable win. Bashley boys stuck to their task in the field and Shafer was the sole wicket taker with 2-14.
James Bala (capt & wk),  Leo Rogers, John Townsley, William Lewis, Joshua Shafer, Joss Esposti, Christian Davies and Joshua Randall were the Bashley  team.

Bashley Bandits - two wins in one week!

An exciting weeks for the girls, playing 2 matches within the week, 2 wins - with both matches being decided in the final over of the match. Well done Girls !

U13B vs Hythe and Dibden. Thursday 15th May

Thursday 15th May. Bashley U13B vs Hythe and Dibden.

At long last decent weather allowed the U13s to get their season underway. Having missed the first two fixtures due to rain, all players were raring to go on a sunny evening at Bashley. This newly formed team had some players who didn't know each other and a few U11s making them clear second favourites against an established opponent. However, youth and inexperience were swept aside by enthusiasm and dedication in what proved to be a close and exciting match...
